Why I built Truffle

I'm Peter van Doorn. I've spent my career around software teams — from years at bunq, one of Europe's most talked-about neobanks, to founding voicemate.us. The same pattern followed me everywhere.

The bottleneck was never the code. It was the questions about the code.

Support, product, sales and success all needed answers that lived in the repository. None of them could read it. So every day, a queue of "quick questions" landed on the same handful of engineers — and every one of those questions was a small interruption to something that actually needed deep focus.

I kept thinking: the knowledge is right there. The code is the most accurate documentation a company has. It just isn't readable by the people who need it most.

So I built Truffle to read it for them

Truffle is the teammate who has actually read the whole codebase and is happy to explain any of it, in plain English, at any hour, without a sigh. It lives in Slack because that's where the questions already get asked.

If your engineers spend too much of their week answering questions other people could self-serve, that's exactly the problem I'm trying to take off your plate. Come say hi to Truffle — I think you'll get along.
